The role

As part of the Australian Submarine Agency you will be working at the cutting edge of capability delivery, supported by professionalisation pathways so you can continue to develop, along with unique and varied career opportunities.

We are looking to fill several vacancies within the Australian Submarine Agency at the EL 2 level. These roles are focused on raising, training and sustaining a nuclear suitably qualified and experienced engineering, science and technology and workforce capability to support delivery of the Australian nuclear-powered submarine program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the organisational development strategies, solutions and professionalisation pathways for the Australian Submarine Agency’s nuclear engineering, science and technology workforce to deliver capability and meet the nuclear safety management system
  • Partnering with government, industry and academic partners, nationally and internationally to develop, enhance and deliver science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and training pathways in support of the nuclear-powered submarine program;
  • Engaging with a range of stakeholders to develop education policy and promote STEM opportunities within the Australian Submarine Agency and wider nuclear-powered submarine program; and
  • Manage the strategic direction, planning and daily operations of a team ensuring effective and efficient operations, including resource and financial management and upskilling and development of the team.

The branch in which the roles are based is the principle area responsible for raising, training and sustaining the nuclear engineering, science and technology workforce of the Australian Submarine Agency and wider nuclear-powered submarine enterprise.

You will work as part of a collegiate and dynamic team to help grow the workforce, skills and capabilities Australia needs to safely and securely operate, build and maintain its future fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing complex programs and projects, including associated budgets, milestone tracking and benefits realisation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to investigate business information and undertake systematic analysis to inform outcomes
  • A demonstrated commitment to personal development and the nuclear mindset principles.
