Ricky Nowak shares five ideas in five minutes to keep you focused as a leader and ready to tackle the day’s challenges. Here’s this week’s fab five, following on from last week:
- Leadership: Honesty really is the best policy, in life and in business. Ask team members to be honest with their questions. In return, give honest answers in a timely, empathetic and forward-moving way.
- People: Encourage people to experience someone else’s role, even if it’s just for a few hours or days. By having an outside ‘set of eyes’ internal problems can often be solved.
- Meetings and Presentations: Don’t set up questions for the end of your presentation. At every key point either ask rhetorical questions or pause for two to three SHORT questions specific to that one point: ie “From what I have covered in relation to XXX, what is still on your mind?”
- Technology: Instead of retyping addresses into your address book simply drag email from new contact into the address icon and it will automatically update your address book.
