Quiz: how well do you know the history of work in Australia?

Do you know when the 40-hour week first took effect in Australia? And how much was the first minimum wage? Take HRM’s end-of-year quiz to test your knowledge about the history of work, and your memory.

It’s the last week of the working year for many of us and that means we’re well and truly dragging ourselves to the finish line. We’re exhausted; we’re over it; we’re SO done with 2021.

The last thing you probably feel like doing is reading a long article about the various privacy considerations regarding the vaccine or how to keep remote employees motivated (although, you can do that here and here if you’re one of the very few people whose brain is still firing this deep into December).

You’d probably much rather do some last-minute online shopping for Christmas, right? Or take a quiz that will tell you which type of cheese or Sex and the City character you are – apparently I’m American cheddar and ‘a total Charlotte with Carrie-like tendencies’. I am displeased with both outcomes. Instead, why not opt for something in the middle of work and play, like HRM’s quiz on the history of work?

You can totally palm this off as ‘work’ if your boss is looking over your shoulder, and we absolutely support you dragging out what is actually a 5-minute quiz in a bid to wile away the better half of your morning.

Let us know your score in the comment section below or share any fun facts about the history of work with us because we’re procrastinating from doing ‘real work’ too.
